relations esteemed by his companions

tears stole down the cheeks of a few
a pang pass`d through the hearts of many

Sacred to the memory of
James Nicoll
who through a long life
was beloved and respected
for the simplicity of his manners
??
The integrity of his conduct, and the faithful discharge of the
duties of a husband, a parent and useful tradesman. He died on the 14th of
January 1801, aged 80 years. And of Margaret Craik his spouse who was exemplary
in her station as a wife and mother, she died 14th August 1797, aged 66 years.
This stone was erected by their surviving children as a
testimony of respect, affection and gratitude.
