 Erected

By ALEXANDER BLACK land surveyor

of the customs Dundee

as a tribute of affection and regard

in memory of MARGARET ANDERSON his wife

only sister of

DAVID ANDERSON Esq of Balgay

who died 21st December 1822 aged 70 years

She was lovely in her life

as a devoted partner

enlightened companion

and faithful friend

on her death bed

she exemplified the resignation

with which the Christian can suffer

and with peace with which the Christian

can die

the righteous shall be

everlasting remembrance

Our daughter MARGARET BLACK

Died the 25th June 1799 aged

18 years

also in remembrance of

their dutiful son ALEXANDER

who departed this life at

Malacca in India

in the 26th years of his life
