Stone No.746 or 747

 

Inscription.

This stone is either 746 or 747, both stones are around the same age and the style of sculpting is correct for the period of the late 1790s.


746

1792 By Alexander Philips, Boat builder, Dundee

Claimant: _ Coupar, boat builder.

This stone was erected by Alexander Philips, Boat Builder, Dundee, in memory of his spouse Catherine Crombie, who died the 24th Aprile 1792, aged xxx years; and two children,- Betty, died December 1789, aged 13 months, and Alexander died 13th Febry 1792, aged 5 years and nine months.

1763 By David Irons, shoemaker, Dundee

Claimant: Mr Pandrish, Blackness Road.

This stone was erected by David Irons, Shoemaker in Dundee, in memory of his children, Helen who died the 16th January 1783, aged 14 months and 2 days; Also in memory of Ann who died the 25th March 1788, aged 10 months and 15 days.
