Hic Etiam Conquiescunt Ossa Elizabeth Ę Ramsay Illius Primi Amoris Uxoris Fillię Unię Joannis Ramsay Fratris Domini De Murie Hujusque Urbis Olim Prętoris, Quę Obiit 2 Die Mensis Aprilis 1643 ętatis 22


Under this tomb is interred Alexander Wedderburne, Lord (or Baron) of Easter Pourie, Chief of his family, formerly Provost of this city, and its Delegate (or representative) to the first Parliament of our Sovereign Lord King Charles II. He died 9th April A.D. 1683 aged 68. Here also rest the bones of Elizabeth Ramsay, the wife of his firt love, only daughter of John Ramsay, brother of the Lord of Murie, formerly Baillie of this city, who died 2nd April 1643, aged 22.

Burial-place of the Wedderburn family, including the Wedderburns of Croft, of Pearsie, of Easter Powrie, and of Ballindean. The principal monument is the upright one with the centre shaft, erected in honour of Lady Margaret, daughter of David, Lord Ogilvie, and sister to David, Earl of Airlie. She was the mother of Sir David Wedderburn, Bart. On the west side of the pedestal a beautifully executed marble tablet by Schumacher, the tutor of the Celebrated Nollekens.
