Lieutenant in the French Imperial Guard

Born at Chartres France 28th February 1785

died at Dundee 1st September 1840


and of his wife JANE INCHES

Born at Dunkeld 29th July 1780

died at Glasgow 23rd December 1848

also WILLIAM CLEVILLER their infant son

Claimant: Jules Legendre, teacher of modern languages in the Dundee Academy.

 


Original Inscription.

In memory of William Cleviller, second son of Jules and Jane Legendre, who died 20th May 1824, aged 6 months.

Later addition.

Duncan Robertson youngest son of Mrs Legendre by her first marriage died at New York 17th October 1839 aged 31 years. Jules Legendre. Lieutenant of the Imperial French Guard, born at Chartres 28th February 1785, died at Dundee, 1st September 1840. Jane Inches relict of Jules Legendre born at Dunkeld 29th July 1780, died at Glasgow 23rd December 1848, aged 68 years.
