Inscription.

Flat stone, now much defaced.

 

Erected to the memory of Alexander Blyth, shipmaster, 1624, and his wife. 


Here lyes Alexander Blyth, shipmaster,
Borges in Dundee, who departed this life ye 4th of Febry 1624 of his age 44, and his
spouse Elizabeth Wedderburn who died ye 24 of October 1643, her age 78


Here lyes George Smith,
Clokemaker in Dundee, who departed this life the 10 of August 1719 of his age 52.


And in the 1834 survey of the Howff the tomb was claimed by the heirs of Samuel Bell, architect.

The inscription to George Smith is marginal and a clock face has been represented towards the bottom of the monument, it had the words inscribed, TEMPVS RERVM IMPERATOR ( Times governs all things ).
