Inscription.

JR MZ

Monumentum serv____ Jacobi Ramsay calentarii civis Deidonani qui animi recti____ ine dictorum___de et factorum civitate int____concives la_____ i haud exemplum consec___est obiit 18 mensis Feb anno domi 1623 aetatis suae 59.

This monument was dug up at the North side of No669 on the 25th April 1836.

It was described as "the panel which contains the inscription is surrounded by a floral wreath, and on each side there is the figure of an angel, at the top of the monument are the arms of Ramsay_ an eagle displayed_ with the initials I.R and M.Z cut in, and on an escroll above "Jacobus Ramsay" in relief. At the bottom there is a quartered coat of arms but the bearings are so injured that it is impossible to ascertain to what names the quarterings belong. Below this coat are the initials E.F. in relief."
