Inscription.

In memoriam piae et charissimae conjugis marjoriae Kyle Jacobus Kyle chirurgus maritus hoc monumentum caedendum curabat.

Hic requiescit proba et honesta matrona marjorie kyle jacobi kyle chirurgi quonoam spousa adventum gloriosi domini praestolans quae obiit anno domini 1638 die junii aetatis suae 30 momento mori

In memory of the pious and beloved wife Margery Kyle James Kyle surgeon husband took care of this monument strike here with equal upright and respectable matron Marjorie Wyld James Wyld's more than that glorious day of June, 1638, died at the age of 30 remember death..

The original text was hard to read, however the resulting translation is close to what is recorded elsewhere and the original inscription is all but obliterated.


James Kyle, surgeon caused this monument to be erected in memory of his pious and dearest wife, Marjory Kyle.

Here rests, awaiting the glorious coming of our blessed Lord, an honest and decent matron, Marjory Kyle, late wife of James Kyle, Surgeon, who died _ June, in the year of the Lord 1638, and of her age 30.

Remember to die.
