Erected to the memory of Andrew Peddie, Merchant, Dundee, who lived universally esteemed and died generally regretted, the 15th day of July 1810, aged 66 years and 5 months.

And to his spouse Elizabeth How, who died 10th February 1819, aged 69 years. Also Andrew Peddie of Bankhead, who died 19th October 1837, aged 65 years.

When dismantled in 1837 for the funeral of Andrew Peddie is was discovered that the foundation for the monument was made up of around five to six feet in depth of smashed monuments.
