Flat stone richly ornamented, James Anderson, 1584, aged 73, and Grisell Wedderburn, 1574.

 

Arms of Anderson and Wedderburn marshalled. 


Hic sitvs speciatvs vir Iacobvs Andersone civis dei donanvs obiit i die mensis ianvarii anno domini 1584 aetatis svae 13 wltimvs morbvm medicvs mors

Here lies an honest man, James Anderson, Citizen of Dundee, who died 1st January A.D. 1584, and of his age 73.

Here lies an honest matron Grisell Wedderburn, wife of the said James Anderson, who died 4th June A.D. 1572, and of her age 54.

Death is the last physician of diseases.
