Here lyes interred Gilbert Jamieson, Merchant, who dyed 27
December 1761, aged 59; and also Elizabeth Strachan his spouse, who died 21 June
aged 62 years.
This stone was erected by David Low, Merchant, in memory of his
children, viz., Elizabeth, who died 17 July 1753, aged one year and 9 months and
14 days; David, who died Decr 28th 1757, aged 10 months 14 days' and Isobell,
who died 28th June 1758, aged three years and 7 days; and Margaret, who died 7th
March 1762, aged 2 years and 4 months; and Katherine who died 12 May 1763, aged
16 months; also Mary and Ann who died May 5th aged 2 days.

1753 David Low, merchant
Claimant: Thomas Hunter, clothier High Street.
P.H. Thoms Esqr Banker Dundee produced a letter of the following
letter "Torquay Devonshire 25th March 1842 S. David Pitcairn son of the late
Alexander Pitcairn merchant in Edinburgh and Elizabeth Low hereby certify that
Mrs Elizabeth Hunter or Thoms and Mrs Thomas Hunter both resident in Dundee are
the nearest akin residing in this the Parish to the late Mr David Low of Dundee,
my maternal grandfather and that I know no other person or persons besides the
said Mrs Elizabeth Hunter or Thoms and Mrs Thomas Hunter in the town of Parish
of Dundee who have any right or are entitled to claim the occupancy of the
burying ground which belongs to the late Mr David Low and for that I hereby
gratify in the name of my brother John Pitcairn and my sister Elizabeth Pitcairn
as well as for myself, that the said Mrs Elizabeth Hunter or Thoms and her
children, and the said Mrs Thomas Hunter, have our full permission to occupy the
burying ground which belonged to our grandfather the said David Low deceased.
