 Stone No.416/2

Inscription.

This stone to Iohannes Zimmene who died 23rd March 1593 aged 55, was moved next to Number 666 at sometime in the past. I have been unable to locate the memorial. However behind No.666 is a patch of moss which may suggest the stone is still in situ but now under the surface of the ground.

This monument was originally dug up in June 1834 during the improvements.

The original inscription is in Latin.

Here lies an honest man John Yeaman, Burges of Dundee, who died twenty third of March, in the year of the Lord 1593, and of his age 55.

Death is the way to eternal life.
