That is, Remember to die. James McEwen.
Blessed are the dead in the Lord. Revelations xix 13. Job xix.
26. Psalm xvi 9.10. and 11. I, Corinthians xvi 35. to the end.
After children named, thus follows.
REAR:
Also his mother Margaret Morrison, who died 5th June 1841 aged
71 and his wife Eliza Crighton who died 5th May 1843 aged 50. Also the said
David McEwen who died 27th April 1844 aged 51. Revised in 1857 by James McEwen,
writer in Dundee. There is also here interred David, son of the said James
McEwen, who died 31st Augt 1847 aged 5 years.
Later revised front inscription.
Sacred to the memory of the Rev. James McEwen, Minister of the
Associate Anti Burgher Congregations of Dundee, who died 25th September 1813,
aged 63 years; and his daughters, Katherine, who died Dec 1817; Jessie ( Wife of
John Henderson. Esq., Advocate, Edinburgh ) who died 19th Dec 1830, aged 40; and
James, Margaret, and James, who died in infancy.

This stone was erected by David McEwen, Writer in Dundee, in memory of his
father the Rev James McEwen, and of his son, three infant children, Patrick,
Margaret and Mary.
