Inscription.

1807. Erected by George Mathew in memory of his father George Mathew, maltman in Dundee, who died 26th Decr 1801, aged 61 years; also his mother Janet Wood, who died 29th Feby 1796, aged 48 years; and their children John and Margaret who died in infancy.

14 July 1845 Revisal dues paid by Charles Archer, brewer, Overgate. Heir served to the late Miss Matthew, Overgate for permission to remove the old stone and replace it by a new one in terms of minute of Hospital Committee of 29 Nov 1843
