Inscription.

 This stone was erected by Andrew Bell shipmaster in Dundee in memory of his father

William bell shipmaster there who died the 19th of May 1774 aged 54 years

 

To serve the nation

He crossed the ocean

Exposed to storms and snow

 

By the decree of the most high

he harbours here below

and here he lies at anchor sure

at his repose so sweet

waiting the call all hands make sail

our admiral Christ to meet

 

Here also interred his daughter Isobel who died 8th of Sept 1776

aged 23 years and five of his sons & 3 daughters who died in non age

 

Revised by William bell Shipmaster Dundee son of the late

Andrew Bell who died 4th Oct 1827 aged 72 years
