Stone No.249

 

Inscription.

This stone was erected here in memory of John Hutchison, who died the IV day of March MDCCLXXXIII, aged XXI years.

This stone was erected over another tomb, it was observed to have the following inscription :-

Hic jacet specta____________an quondarn spousae Gulielmi Haliburton nau______cleri et civis civitatis Deidoni quae obiit ann_______die 25 Octobris aetatis vero suae ann______ "mors est fidelibus via ad coelum" "Recede a malo et fac bonum sic habita in seoulum - Psal 37."

Here lies____________late spouse of William Haliburton, Shipmaster and citizen of the city of Dundee, who died 25th October, in the year____, and of her age the____ year.

Death is the road of the faithful to heaven.

Depart from evil and do good, so shall thou dwell (or live) for ever - Psalm xxxvii-27
