Inscribed to the memory of Charles Matthews, died 23rd December
1826 aged 10 months, John died 9th November 1830 aged 1 year and 10 months.
Christian Allan died 19th August 1841 aged 10 months. And their grandparents
Thomas Matthews who died 29th May 1815 aged 56 years and Christian Allan his
spouse who died 1st March 1826 aged 67 years. Obituary. Charles Matthews,
Merchant, Dundee, died 3rd December 1858 aged 56 years, and Catherine Paton his
spouse, died 10th December 1853 aged 51 years. This monument was erected by the
surviving members of the family as a tribute of respect to the memory of their
parents.
