Inscription.

Erected in memory of JAMES CARMICHAEL Harestane Parish of Mains who died 24th Novr 1854 aged 77 years and of his wife RACHEL DRUMMOND who died 16th May 1831 aged 43 years Original Inscription. 1831. Sacred to Rachel Drummond spouse to James Carmichael, who died 16th May 1831. Dundee 9 August 1858. Permission granted to the children of the late James Carmichael to remove old headstone and to erect a new one in its place, per Hospital Committee of this date.
