Death pities not the pride of youthful bloom:

Unerring and unseen his shaft,

strikes the devoted victim to the ground.

memory

of

WILLIAM POWELL

of

Mr J Brown's company of Equestrians

who died of smallpox

on the 9th December 1822

in the twentieth year of his life

perpetuate their respect for

HENRY BRYSON

who left this sublunary world

16th March 1816

And whose body rests near this spot.

Also here reposeth the remains of John Nichols, Equestrian, late of Mr James Cooke's Circus who died 26th February 1853, aged 39 years.

A loving husband, a partner dear.

One much regretted lies buried here,

He knew not malice, envy, pride,

He lived beloved and so he died.
