Inscription.

 Hic jacet probus vir Joanes Garden burgen de Dunde qui obiit die mensis 18 Jannuari anno d. 1581 aetatis suae 60.
Hic jacet honesta mullier Elizabethe Kinneir sponsa dicti J.G. qui obiit die mensis 2 Maii anno domini 1573 aetatis suae 47
Mors ultima linea serum.

Here lies an honest man John Gardyne, Burgess of Dundee, who died 18th January in the year of the Lord 1581, and of his age 60.
Here lies a decent woman, Elizabeth Kinnear, wife of the said John Gardyne, who died 2nd May in the year of the Lord 1573, and of her age 47.
Death is the last line things.
