Inscription.

 Covering slab of a Sarcophagus which formerly belonged to John Petrie, 1648, and his wife Isobel Duncan.

 

This has been cleared off and a new inscription put on.

 

The marshalled arms are on the end.


Heir lys ane godly honest woman namit Isobel Duncane spouse to John Petrie, baxter burges of Dundie who departit this lyf of the 13 day of Febreuar 1648 and of her age 50 zeir.

Claimant: Mrs Mitchell and family Seagate.

Revised by David Mitchell in 1829, to the memory of his mother-in-law Mrs Jean Scott, spouse of Robert Glen, late shoemaker here. The said David Mitchell died 17th Oct 1830 aged 53 years. Also his son David, who died 28th Septr 1833 aged 36 years.
