Inscription.

This monument was dug up during the improvements in May 1834.

Gilbertus Auchinlectus pistor et civis Deidonanus inoustria et prudentia aequalium suorum nomini secunous hic dormit expectans resurrectionem obiit decanus suae artis integerrimus die 25 mensis novembris anno natalis domini 1641 aetatis suae 34.

Here sleeps in hope of the resurrection, a man of the greatest integrity, and of equal prudence and integrity, Gilbert Auchinleck, Baker and citizen of Dundee, who died Deacon of his trade on the 25th Day of the month of November, in the year of the birth of the Lord 1641, aged 34.
