Erected by Robert Aitken, minr, in memory of his children,
Samuel Wilson Aitken, who died 17th November 1825 aged 6 years and two months;
an infant son who was born and died 21st May 1829; and Elizabeth Darling Aitken,
who died 19th May 1831 aged 13 years and three month. Also of his mother
Isabella Ferguson, who died 22nd April 1829, aged 71 years.
And of Marion Wilson Elder a Grand niece who died 11th March
1838 aged 3 months and two weeks.

January 12th 1848, revisal dues paid by the Congregation of
Willison Church, Barrack Street for permission to lay down the stone of the Revd
Robert Aitken, No29 in the old ground flat on the ground, and to erect a new one
at the head of his ground, in terms of minute of Hospital Committee of 22nd
December 1847.
